Looks like there's no interest in merging my PR https://github.com/numtide/devshell/pull/266 on devshell's Rust module being unusable.

The most positive path would be to track devshell and use a separate module ecosystem

Otherwise, I'll probably go with the Nix way - contribute to the canonical monolith or role your own solution
